A number of the teachers in ACT have recently finished Level 1 training as Good Shepherd Catechists.
The Catechesis is based on the teaching principles of Maria Montessori. During the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd presentations the children become directly involved with exploring and learning from events in the Bible through tangible representations of the faith e.g. working with figurines representing people from the parables of Jesus. The children also use specially designed minature sacred vessels of the Mass to deepen their knowledge of and explore this great mystery. The Catechesis provides an excellent foundation for Communion and Confirmation preparation as the child learns the fundamental tenants of the faith in a very child-friendly manner.
The course takes place in Templeogue, Co. Dublin on the last weekend of every month.
The children (from 3 - 12) can attend an atrium where the Catechesis is presented at Monkstown (Co. Dublin) and Templeogue (Co. Dublin). These presentations take place after school hours, usually immediately following the school day. There are various other locations around the country where the Catechesis takes place.
