About us
The Association of Catholic Teachers (ACT) is a group that was formed in 2009 in response to a request from many primary school teachers in Ireland for assistance in the area of faith formation. Our Association has a core-group of five primary school teachers, one Irish translator and a spiritual director who is also a Diocesan Advisor, Fr. Barry Condron.
We currently reach over 600 teachers with our free monthly Email Bulletin and this number is constantly growing. The Email Bulletin arrives to teachers on or before the first day of every school month. It contains resources and ideas for teaching religion, based on themes pertaining to the upcoming month. Our resources range from photocopiable materials to slideshow PowerPoint presentations and also include child friendly summaries of Church feast days and festivals. We also have features ‘as Gaeilge’. The resources complement the current Religious Education programme in schools. The postal library has a host of resources ranging from DVDs to books and CDs. These are posted to the teacher free of charge and when he/she is finished with them, they post them back to us.
In conclusion, ACT aims to support, promote and assist primary school teachers in the faith formation of the pupils in their school. We also endeavour to support teachers in their own faith journey. We are a voice for Catholic education in Ireland today.

Our logo

Our logo has the letters ACT in Celtic writing, symbolising our Irish heritage. The picture shows an adult teacher pointing towards a Christian cross, the yellow colour symbolising the risen Christ. The child is also pointing towards the cross. The teacher is the guide towards Christ and the child is led and comes to know God through the teacher’s example.
